Cherokee Long Rifles Muzzleloader Matches
What: Muzzleloader Offhand Rifle Match – open to any muzzleloading rifle shooting pure lead round ball or minie, any open or peep sight, flintlock or percussion (no handicaps given to anyone shooting those newfangled cap locks!) Where: Cherokee Gun Club, Silhouette Range When: 2009 Matches will be held on the fourth (4th) Sunday of each month. There will be no December match. Practice begins at 12:30 PM and matches will start at 1:00 PM. The relays will be timed with 20 minutes allotted to load and fire 5 rounds.Match normally consists of paper targets at 25, 50, and 100 yards, along with metal swinger targets at various ranges to 100 yds. Novelty targets such as a swinging turkey head, hanging charcoal briquets, and splitting a bullet on an axe head will also be shot. A special prize will be awarded to the winner of the novelty shoot. Match fee: $10 – prizes drawn at random after the match – we are shooting for bragging rights! There will be a separate class for inline muzzleloaders for those who would like to tune their skills before hunting season.If you have never tried muzzleloading come on down and watch – I’ll be glad to let you try your luck on the practice range and see if we can get you hooked on muzzleloading!
