Armed Women of America

About AWA

AWA (Armed Women of American, formerly The Well Armed Woman) is a national non-profit organization that exists to enable women to be their own self-protectors, creating freedom, peace of mind and confidence in themselves. We will meet the 3rd Wednesday of each month, meetings typically starting at 5pm (might vary according to time of year) and meetings will be about 2-2.5 hours (depending on if we have live fire drills or not).

We will meet at the clubhouse, sign in, and have safety brief. We will then head to Bay 5 for live fire drills at 5:30pm. We plan to do a defensive style drill (similar to IDPA) that will include moving and shooting; depending on skill level of attendee (and an approved holster), we will allow drawing from the holster or start from low ready. Beginners are very welcome! We will tailor this to each woman’s skill level.

During the winter months (shorter days), we will have our meeting activities in the clubhouse.  During our longer summer days, we will have outdoor range activities.

For your first meeting you do not need to be a member of our AWA chapter. After that, you will need to become a member. However, if you are not an AWA member, you cannot participate in the live fire event

Membership is $75 annually to participate in our events. If you already are a member of another AWA chapter, you can add our chapter on for $15

Safety Rules

Always remember and observe the four cardinal rules of gun safety:

  • Treat all guns as if they are loaded.
  • Never point a gun at something you’re not prepared to destroy.
  • Always be sure of your target and what is beyond it.
  • Keep your finger off the trigger until you sights are on the target.

We look forward to seeing more women on the range!!
