Cherokee Gun Club will be hosting a Ladies Only Introduction to IDPA Clinic on August 18, 2021. This class is for female shooters who are looking to learn more about competition shooting and specifically, IDPA. This class has been designed to give you the information and training needed to safely and successfully participate in IDPA matches. The class will be at 4:30pm and should be done by 7pm or so.
This is not a “basic handgun” class. Attendees should already be very familiar with their firearm. This class focuses on the taking the participants from shooting from a static position at the range to the more dynamic sport of IDPA competition.
In the Safety Briefing, we will present an extended version of the New Shooter’s Safety Briefing presented at our monthly matches. This will include safety requirements, an overview of IDPA rules, and a discussion on the procedures involved in shooting an IDPA match.
For the range portion of the class, participants will shoot three IDPA stages with full instructor guidance and support. We have also enlisted several female IDPA Safety Officers to assist with the class.
Equipment for Ladies Only Intro to IDPA Clinic
- Eye and ear protection, required at CGC
- Pistol or revolver
- Strong-side hip holster, preferably kydex
- Magazines, speedloaders or moonclips
- Single or double magazine pouch, speedloader or moon clip holders (as appropriate)
- Sturdy gun belt that holds holster and magazine holders securely
- Cover garment (vest, jacket, coat, long shirt, etc.) Active Duty LEO’s may wear their Duty Belt and be exempt from concealment requirements
- 50 rounds of ammunition,
- Range bag, gym bag or back pack to carry your equipment
- Baseball hat
- Water and/or sodas
- Snacks
- Sunscreen and/or insect repellent
- Closed toe shoes
- No low cut or tank tops
The class size will be limited to not more than 16 attendees for maximum effectiveness.
The cost of the class will be $10.00 per shooter. Please bring cash or check. We don’t have a way to process credit card payments.
